Your optometrist will diagnose Dry Eye by taking a thorough targeted history, as well as evaluate:

  • tear production
  • tear evaporation
  • quality of the tear film and its components
  • quality of lid margins and eyelashes

Diagnostic tests for dry eye disease include:

  • Keratograph K5
  • Schirmer’s test
  • Phenol red thread test
  • Tear film break up time
  • Staining tests: Fluorescein, Lissamine green
  • InflammaDry MMP testing
  • Tearscope analysis
