In office assessment includes with the Oculus K5: this involes infrared photography of the meibomian glands( oil glands), tear film assessment and red eye assessment, slit lamp assessment with lissamine green. Treatment options include: Blephasteam and MG expression, Lacritec, Optimel ointment, Hylofresh and Hyloforte, Tears Again spray, take home heat masks, blinking exercises and environmental advice.
‘The Oculus K5 keratograph is one of the most advanced instruments used in dry eye assessment. It can assess and record the extent of your dry eyes including infrared photography of the meibomian glands( oil glands), tear film assessment and red eye assessment. Appropriate therapy can then be targeted to help with dry eyes. This could include blephasteam ( steam goggles) sessions which helps with meibomian (oil) gland blockage, lid massage, appropriate use of eye lubricants , environmental and nutritional advice ( omega 3 suppliment Lacritec) and appropriate blinking techniques. “
